Spotlight on Druid Hills

While most Atlanta natives know of  Druid Hills as one of Atlanta’s most prestigious in-town neighborhoods, Druid Hills was originally designed by Joel Hurt and Fredrick Olmsted in the 1890’s as one of Atlanta’s first suburbs. Druid Hills was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and 1979 in order to preserve Olmsted’s design vision and innovation.

With large open lots and plenty of green space, Olmsted set out to maintain the topography and beauty of the landscape while planning an urban environment that would be conducive to anticipated growth in Atlanta’s suburbs.

Today, Druid Hills remains one of the most aesthetically pleasing communities in Atlanta. With an active Civic association and an excellent public school system, Druid Hills is one of the most desirable neighborhoods for families in Atlanta.
