08 Feb Powder Springs: Small Enough to Know You, Large Enough to Serve You
Powder Springs is a quaint community about 20 miles west of downtown Atlanta. The City offers a quiet, serene, and active lifestyle while having the convenience of all the amenities of a major metropolitan area. Begun with settlers during Georgia’s Gold Lottery in the 1830’s, the area was originally incorporated as the Town of Springville due to the seven medicinal mineral springs surrounding the area. The mineral water from these springs caused the sand around the springs to turn black like gunpowder and the City was later incorporated as Powder Springs in 1859.
The city’s motto: ‘ Small Enough to Know You, Large Enough to Serve You’ speaks to what makes the area so popular to those who live there. This is the suburbs as they were originally envisioned. Lovely communities close enough to a major city to commute to work and enjoy what the city offers but far enough away to know that you don’t live in the city. Powder Springs embodies this type of living. The area has many parks and trails for outdoor enjoyment but best known is likely the Silver Comet Trail.
Due to the City’s location to the west of Atlanta, housing prices are significantly lower and you get a lot more ‘house’ for your money. Case in point, 2203 Windermere Way.
