Sandy Springs is a city in northern Fulton county and located north of Atlanta. Cobb county lies to its west, Roswell to the north, and Dunwoody and Brookhaven to the east. Local neighborhoods include Downtown Sandy Springs, marked by the presence of the Northside Tower, and Riverside along the Chattahoochee, the western residential district. North Springs is the northernmost area served by the North Springs MARTA station on the North-South line. Other stations serving the area include Medical Center and Sandy Springs. A small portion of Sandy Springs extends inside the perimeter (or ITP, as locals would say) featuring affluent neighborhoods along well-maintained roads like Northside Drive and Powers Ferry. Local points of attraction include The Heritage Sandy Springs Museum, opened in 2010, displaying the history of the communities in the area, and a museum dedicated to the life of Anne Frank.

Sandy Springs also has several green spaces within its city limits, making it one of the more nature-friendly communities. It boasts 12 parks, including Heritage Green, Hammond Park, and Morgan Falls Overlook. Most offer hiking trails, picnic pavilions, and playgrounds for children, scenic views and proximity to residential areas. Sandy Springs is home to three large hospitals – Northside, St Joseph’s and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). Several big names in computer services, telecommunications, finance and other specialized industries have their headquarters or regional offices located in Sandy Springs. Top employers in the city include IBM, Cisco, UPS, AT&T and Cox Enterprises. Three consulates general are located here as well – Columbia, Nigeria and India. Two major highways serving the area are GA400 running north-south and the I-285 running east-west.

Public schools are operated by the Fulton County School System.
Elementary schools include Heards Ferry, High Point, Lake Forest, Woodland Charter, among others. Middle schools include Sandy Springs Middle School and Ridgeview Charter Middle School. High schools include North Springs Charter School of Arts and Sciences and Riverwood. Private schools located in Sandy Springs include Brandon Hall, Springmont, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal, Mount Vernon Presbyterian, Alfred and Adele Davis Academy.
