Situated just northwest of Atlanta, the Brookhaven neighborhood was a golf vacation destination for urbanites looking to escape the bustle of the city in the early 1900s. Flash forward 100 years and this neighborhood has developed into DeKalb county’s largest city. Brookhaven incorporated in 2012 and this community has grown to 49,000 residents. Dunwoody lies to the north of Brookhaven, Buckhead to the west, Doraville/Chamblee to the east and Emory/Toco Hills to the south making it a very convenient place to call home.

There are three major sections of this neighborhood. The first is Historic Brookhaven which is marked by the Capital City Club at the center. Part of this area lies in Buckhead and part lies in Brookhaven proper. Brookhaven Heights is boarded by Peachtree Road and North Druid Hills Road. This section of Brookhaven is the area including the Brookhaven MARTA station and surrounding restaurants and retail as well as about 400 homes. The City of Brookhaven encompasses the previously mentioned areas and the entirety of the newly incorporated city.
There are 14 parks in the City of Brookhaven including tennis center Blackburn Park, trails and playing fields at Osbourne Park, as well as the Nancy Creek PATH trail, making it a great place for recreational outdoor activities. It’s also home to Peachtree-DeKalb airport which is over 700 acres large with four runways and houses almost 600 aircrafts.
SCHOOLS IN BROOKHAVEN
Schools in Brookhaven DeKalb City School system operated the Brookhaven public schools. Elementary schools include: Ashford Park Elementary, Montclair Elementary, Montgomery Elementary, Kittredge middle magnet school and Woodward Elementary. Pulbic high schools include: Chamblee Charter High School and Cross Keys High School. Private schools include: Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School, St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal School, and Marist School. Additionally Brookhaven is home to Oglethorpe University and Georgia State University’s satellite campus.
