Druid Hills Real Estate: The Idyllic Garden Residential Community

Druid Hills, Georgia is one of Atlanta’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods and it is recognized by the National Register of Historic Places.  The neighborhood has winding streets and it is filled with beautiful trees and small parks.

In the early 1900s, a substantial amount of Atlanta’s wealthiest citizens chose to buy Druid Hills real estate and the resulting professionally designed homes are an eclectic mix of various architectural styles which reflects the beauty of the curving topography of the neighborhood.  Druid Hills, Georgia has been billed as the “idyllic garden residential community.”

Residences within the area are a veritable showcase of design styles, which adds charm and value to Druid Hills real estate.  Design styles range from country club villas, Italian Renaissance, Tudor manors to name a few.  Jacobean and Georgian architecture are very popular as well.

Druid Hills’ biggest neighbor, Atlanta, is located just 5 miles away and has an array of employment and educational options which many residents of the area find appealing.  The schools surrounding the Druid Hills real estate area are exceptional.  Even though the area is only 4.2 square miles, it has excellent schools, which include Fernbank Elementary, Druid Hills High School and the main campus of Emory University.

There are many parks in and around Druid Hills.  These include Fernbank Forest, the private Druid Hills Golf Club, Burbanck Park and Freedom Park.  There is also an 18 mile bike trail from Stone Mountain Park to the Georgia Tech campus called the Atlanta-Stone Mountain Trail, or just the PATH.

Every spring, the community gets together and holds a Druid Hills real estate tour and Artist Market which features a variety of elegant gardens and homes.  This event raises money for neighborhood preservation.

The park-like design and old-world southern charm makes any Druid Hills real estate property a very appealing place to live.
