12 Feb Another Blast of Cold Weather Around the Corner, Be Prepared

A couple of cold snaps are right around the corner for our area. And preparing for the cold doesn’t come naturally in Atlanta, so here is some useful information to help you prepare.

Items to have handy:

• blankets
• matches
• flashlight or lantern
• battery powered radio
• non-electric can opener
• rock salt

Prepare your home:

• Have your chimney inspected and flue cleaned
• Install a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector
• Insulate any water pipes
• Add weather stripping and insulate doors and windows
• Bring pets inside

Prepare your car:

• Have the radiator serviced if needed
• Replace any worn tires; check tire pressure
• Keep your gas tank near full
• Equip your car with blankets, booster cables, a tire repair kit, flashlight
